Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, President of the Board
Wendy has more than 25 years of experience in different aspects of health & fitness. She received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physical Education, specializing in Athletic Training. She received three Master's Degrees: Public Health, with an emphasis in Health Services Administration, Social Work, with an emphasis in Administration, and Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Wendy has advanced to candidacy in a pursuit of a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She has held numerous certifications in the past, such as aquatics, lifeguard, CPR and First Aid instructor, personal training, and more. She has also been a lifelong volunteer, as early as candy striper in the hospitals, as a child, to being on the Board of Directors for the East County American Cancer Society, as a young adult. She is a seasoned professional speaker, giving motivational, educational, and technical presentations and workshops at conferences, work sites, colleges and universities, and more, in topics ranging from health and wellness, nutrition, mental and physical links, youth leadership, injury prevention and intervention, obesity prevention and intervention, health care trends, and more. She has presented at the County of San Diego Providers Meetings, Council of Community Clinics, Police and Fire Fighters Peer Council, California Teachers Association, and much more. She also works as an Adjunct Instructor at Southwestern College, teaching a wide variety of topics in health, nutrition, kinesiology, body sculpting, and step aerobics. She has also taught graduate level classes in sports and business management classes.
Chief Operations Officer, Executive Chef
Greg has about 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. He was formally trained at the California Culinary Academy. He works behind the scenes for our youth healthy cooking classes in recipe and menu development. He also provides in-home or on-site adult cooking classes and can assist with meal planning. As a Certified Professional Food Manager, Greg serves the certification needs of the health coaches at HAF by instructing food safety classes and authorizing Food Handler's Permits. He has been able to add to HAF's list of services by earning his Adult/Child/Infant CPR/AED Instructor certification and offering this service to the community!
Health Coach Assistant Supervisor and Grant Writing Team Member
Being born and raised in San Diego has made Lindsey as cool as the beaches that line our city. Her gentle and laidback coaching style has been a valuable asset to HAF. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition from San Diego State University. Afterwards, she intends on completing an internship to become a Registered Dietitian. Some of her hobbies include intramural soccer, trying new foods, and always staying active.
Health Coach and Administrative Support
Christine graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Kinesiology, emphasis in Fitness, Nutrition, and Health. She is working on her Master's Degree in Physician Assistance and is currently volunteering at the Alhambra Hospital Medical Center in the Physical Therapy Dept. She enjoys exercising and traveling in her free time.
Gil has worked in the Public Health field for nine years in a variety of settings. He holds a bachelors in Health Science with an emphasis in Community Health Education. He has a passion for guiding individuals to help them reach their potential in the exercise and fitness area. His specialties include, strength training, exercise/Fitness, and health promotion. In his spare time his hobbies include strength training, basketball and spending time with his son and salsa dancing.
Health Coach and Youth Programs
Andrew graduated from California State University of Fullerton with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Studies. His passion for physical activity has stuck close to him throughout his whole life. As a multi-sport athlete he loves to play, and his greatest joy comes from helping others to enjoy being active! His chief hobbies include playing basketball, cooking, and hiking in the hills and mountains with his dogs. He plans to further his education by getting his Health Fitness Specialist Certification through ACSM.
Health Coach and Special Projects
With her compassion and sweetly attentive ear, Allison has been able to offer her unique coaching style to Healthy Adventures. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Science from the University of California in Santa Barbara and completed the American Council of Exercise/UCSD certificate program in Exercise Science and Group Fitness Instruction. Allison has been an ACE Group Fitness Instructor for 3 years and a Class Instructor at the ARC at San Diego State University. Her specialties include "Zoomer" fitness, yoga, whole-body health, and cooking light. In her off time, she enjoys being a foodie, wine connoisseur, health, exercise, cooking, camping, reading, and hanging out with family and friends. One day, she hopes to learn how to surf and play the guitar. Allison is a San Diego native and fluent in American Sign Language.
Cameron has graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology with a Fitness Specialist emphasis. With his love for healthy cooking, active lifestyle, and the passion for spreading healthy living tips, Cameron strives upon helping others obtain a happy and healthy lifestyle. On his off time, Cameron enjoys wakeboarding, hiking, and laying on the beach. He wants to further his education and obtain certifications in posture, group fitness, and personal training.
Shadia graduated from the University of California, Irvine with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Public Health Policy and Anthropology. With that, she has developed a great interest in approaching health and well-being through alternative means that account for community environments and social understandings. In her free time, Shadia spends time enjoying beautiful Southern California with family and friends. Her favorite pastimes include hiking, playing tennis, traveling and exploring new foods. In the future, Shadia hopes to further her education in Medical Anthropology and addressing larger global health issues.
Diana finished her Bachelors of Science with an emphasis on Health Care Administration from the University of Phoenix. She also has received teaching certificates in specialized group fitness programs such as: Insanity, PiYo Strength, and Turbo Kick. She plans to further her studies by attaining her Masters in Health and Sports Physical Therapy. As a health and fitness coach, Diana enjoys contributing to the community by helping others reach and maintain their health and fitness goals. In her spare time Diana enjoys spending time with her family, reading, working out, and volunteering as often as her schedule allows.
Health Coach Intern - BS
Ivonne Sanchez is currently attending San Diego State University and will be completing a B.S. in Food and Nutrition in the Fall of 2013. She has a passion for healthy eating, cooking, and fitness. She also loves running outdoors and hiking. On her free time, she enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, dancing and trying out new recipes and exercises. Ivonne is now looking forward to becoming a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and health coach.
Health Coach Intern - BS
Sean is currently attending San Diego State University pursuing a bachelor’s of science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in being a Fitness Specialist. He plans on becoming a paramedic after school to continue to serve his community. He has been involved in playing and teaching sports his entire life and enjoys getting the community involved in physical activity. In his free time he likes learning new activities, new exercises, and just loves to be outdoors.
Health Coach Intern - MPH
Elli is a Master's in Public Health candidate at San Diego State University, emphasizing in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science. She graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and is a certified EMT. Elhaum is passionate about working with underprivileged and uninsured communities, and hopes to continue her work with these populations as a future career goal. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, dancing for the SDSU hip hop dance team, and serving as secretary for the Graduate School of Public Health student council. She is enthusiastic about working with diverse populations, and speaks proficient Spanish and Farsi.
MSW 2nd Year Intern, University of Southern California
Laurel holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. She has spent her entire life training and teaching in dance, sports, and health and fitness and is now in her last year of the Masters of Social Work program at the University of Southern California. Upon graduation Laurel hopes to work with California’s female prisoner population and their children. She enjoys ballet and African dance, ocean swimming, playing music, animal rescue and rehabilitation and anything that involves the great outdoors and getting there on a bike.
MSW 1st year Intern – SDSU
Brian is former California teacher currently working on his Masters of Social Work degree at San Diego State University. Brian has extensive experience working with foster youth, both in school and in the group home settings. Brian enjoys hiking, cooking and trying new healthy foods, as well as spending time with his wife and cats.
