Dr. Wendy Hileman
Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, President of the Board
Wendy has more than 25 years of experience in different aspects of public health, wellness, nutrition and fitness. She received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physical Education, specializing in Athletic Training. She received three Master's Degrees: Public Health, with an emphasis in Health Services Administration, Social Work, with an emphasis in Administration, and Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Wendy has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She has held numerous certifications in the past, such as aquatics, lifeguard, CPR and First Aid instructor, personal training, and more. She has served on three different boards for various non-profits, including Healthy Adventures Foundation. She is a seasoned professional speaker, giving motivational, educational, technical presentations and conference workshops, work sites, colleges and universities, and more, in topics ranging from health and wellness, nutrition, mental and physical links, injury prevention, workplace wellness, disease management, obesity prevention and intervention, and more. She has presented at the County of San Diego Providers Meetings, Council of Community Clinics, Police and Fire Fighters Peer Council, California Teachers Association, and more. She also works as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Southern California and Southwestern College, teaching a wide variety of topics in graduate level social work classes: program evaluation and advanced policy. In undergraduate classes, she teaches health, nutrition, kinesiology, and activity classes. She has also taught graduate level classes in sports and business management classes.
Chief Operations Officer, Executive Chef
Greg has about 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. He was formally trained at the California Culinary Academy. He works behind the scenes for our youth healthy cooking classes in recipe and menu development. He also provides in-home or on-site adult cooking classes and can assist with meal planning. As a Certified Professional Food Manager, Greg serves the certification needs of the health coaches at HAF by instructing food safety classes and authorizing Food Handler's Permits. He has been able to add to HAF's list of services by earning his Adult/Child/Infant CPR/AED Instructor certification and offering this service to the community!
Health Coach Supervisor and Grant Writing Team Member
Lindsey graduated from San Diego State University in 2009 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition. Her education sparked a new love for trying new foods and experimenting with healthy cooking and cooking alternatives. Alongside her passion for food, Lindsey enjoys staying active through intramural indoor soccer and evening walks with friends and family. She hopes to further her education with a Master's degree in Public Health in the near future.
Health Coach Lead and Health Coach Trainer
Shadia graduated from the University of California, Irvine with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Public Health Policy and Anthropology. With that, she has developed a great interest in approaching health and well-being through alternative means that account for community environments and social understandings. In her free time, Shadia spends time enjoying beautiful Southern California with family and friends. Her favorite pastimes include hiking, playing tennis, traveling and exploring new foods. In the future, Shadia hopes to further her education in Medical Anthropology and addressing larger global health issues.
Health Coach and Special Projects
With her compassion and sweetly attentive ear, Allison has been able to offer her unique coaching style to Healthy Adventures. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Science from the University of California in Santa Barbara and completed the American Council of Exercise/UCSD certificate program in Exercise Science and Group Fitness Instruction. Allison has been an ACE Group Fitness Instructor for 3 years and a Class Instructor at the ARC at San Diego State University. Her specialties include "Zoomer" fitness, yoga, whole-body health, and cooking light. In her off time, she enjoys being a foodie, wine connoisseur, health, exercise, cooking, camping, reading, and hanging out with family and friends. One day, she hopes to learn how to surf and play the guitar. Allison is a San Diego native and fluent in American Sign Language.
Danielle graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science. She is passionate about wellness education and helping others to achieve personal health and fitness goals. In her free time, Danielle enjoys running, yoga, cooking, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and dog.
Alexis graduated from San Diego State University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Public Health. She has always been very passionate about healthy, positive living and loves having the opportunity to help others improve their own lifestyles. Drawing from her education, background as a Soccer Coach and years working as a Mental Health Counselor for underprivileged youth, she brings compassionate, optimistic outlook to Healthy Adventures Foundation. She has always been passionate about living a healthy, active lifestyle and especially enjoys running, surfing and yoga. In her time off she loves spending time at the beach, walking her dog, reading, cooking and visiting with friends and family. Alexis is currently finishing her Yoga Instructor Certification and has plans to return to San Diego State University to complete her Masters Degree in Public Health in the near future.
Juan graduated from SDSU May 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Fitness Specialist. His passion for sports and living a long and healthy life has driven him to help others to become all that they can be. He enjoys living an active lifestyle hence you will find him on weekends playing soccer, leading fitness group classes, hiking up Cowles Mt. or even bike riding on the Silver Strand. In his free time Juan performs in a rock band and loves to draw/ animate.
Diana is a senior at San Diego State University and is finishing her degree in May with a BS in Health Sciences with a focus on Public Health. She is studying to get her NASM personal training certification in the near future and loves any and all aspects of health and wellness. She runs an on campus organization for LED light arts and dance. In her free time, she enjoys weight training, cooking, hiking, traveling, being outdoors, and hula hooping.
Emma graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014, with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her passion for the active living lifestyle brought her to California where she would like to share how beneficial this lifestyle can be. She plans to continue her education with a Masters in Positive Psychology so she can learn what helps make people happy and how everyone can adopt traits that help them have a more positive perspective on themselves and their surroundings.
Kourtney graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health. Her sole purpose is to lead, innovate, aspire and have an impact in others' lives. She is genuinely passionate about helping others, building healthy relationships, and creating healthy lifestyles. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, working out, reading, hiking and laying out on the beach. In the future, Kourtney plans to further her education by seeking a Nursing degree in hopes of traveling outside of the country, focusing on global health issues, bringing awareness, and educating abroad.
Master's of Social Work Intern
Joey is currently a candidate (2016) for his master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California. His passions of healthy lifestyles and food blend perfectly with the helping people live a better quality of life. During his off timeJoey likes to hike and ride his motorcycle. He hopes to continue onto a PhD after earning his license in clinical social work.
